Samba Nite

Also on November 2oth, come to Cielito Lindo (10:30 PM - 2 AM) for SAMBA NITE. There will be dancing, music, food, & raffle prizes! $5 at the door. This event is also co-sponsored by KU2Bros and GRASP. All proceeds support educational opportunities for underprivileged children in Brazil. Help kids and have fun!!!

Matilde Ribeiro: "Racial Equality Policy in Brazil: Myths and Realities"

On November 20th at 3:30 PM, Matilde Ribeiro, the former minister of Brazil under the Lula administration, will give a talk on Racial Equality at the Multicultural Resource Center Classroom (1299 Oread Ave). This event is co-sponsored by KU2Bros and GRASP.

Brazilian Favela Documentary


Rocinha: At Home on the Big Hill

Presented by Ellsworth Hall and Two Brothers Foundation of KU

Shot on location in Brazil, this half-hour documentary explores a squatter town in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the lives of three young people who live there, all students of the Two Brothers Foundation, and NGO working to provide educational opportunities for Rocinha residents. KU's professor Paul Sneed, co-founder of the Two Brothers Foundation and Ellsworth Hall's Faculty Partner directs the film (2007, in Portuguese with English subtitles).
